The Annual Register of Indian Affairs, in the Western (or Indian) Territory, 1835-1838.

In a desire to raise public awareness and support of Indian missions, McCoy conceived the idea of publishing these “Annual Registers.”  These four registers from 1835 to 1838, were all that were issued and are of great historical value.  McCoy, who was also a skillful surveyor, provides us with precise locations of mission stations, forts, Indian agencies and settlements.

In short, McCoy’s Annual Registers are a wealth of primary source material to not only students of Christian missions among the Indians, but to any who are interested in Western history and settlement.
