A Little Maid
(based upon II Kings 5)

A little maid of Abram’s seed,
Was right where she should be;
She has no name, of which we read,
Yet how important she.

Is made to serve her mistress’ hand,
A little heart laid bare;
For she’s a slave, torn from her land,
We wonder why she’d care.

Her master was a nobleman,
A captain of the host;
An honored man called Naaman,
Achievements great to boast.

But pride has gone and left him low,
He surely has a need;
He cannot hide, his skin will show
His leprosy indeed.

The little maid now holds the key,
Her light she must not dim;
“If master could the prophet see,
He would recover him.”

O Naaman, you’ve been brought to
Jehovah’s two-edged sword;
The little maid with words so few,
Will send you to the Lord.

Why such kindness, yea, undeserved?
A girl of Israel’s race;
The work within her heart preserved,
This little girl named Grace!
