Early Indian Missions

Dr. Edward Roustio

This is a history of the life of Isaac McCoy in relationship to early Indian Migrations and Missions as revealed in his unpublished manuscripts.

Dr. Roustio wonderfully details the historical background of McCoy before moving to his relationship and importance in Indian migration. McCoy is instrumental in exploration, mapping and moving Indians from the southern Michigan area down into the Kansas territory. He tells of the struggles that the early missionaries had as well as significant victories. Dr. Roustio has made the benefit of his research available with abundant footnotes and an excellent bibliography.

Appendix A - is a complimentary shorter work on McCoy's plan and work of Indian Colonization by Emory J. Lyons.

Appendix B - is the reprint of 'The History of Maria Creek Church' by Dr. Ben F. Keith - which, has to do with the early ministry of Isaac McCoy. This church sent McCoy forth to minister and serve the Indians.

For Indiana genealogists, this appendix is a gem, as page after page of early members are listed.

The book is of historical importance to many midwestern states and is 470 pages - fully indexed, pictures and documents. The book is hard bound on grade B buckram on acid free paper.
