Quote from Cleve Brantley's letter we've entitled, "Crossbearing"

10th Mar 2021

"The crosses we sometimes carry can be heavy and unbearable! But there are greater ones to come. I have heard scores of sermons on cross bearing, none of them knew what it is to bear a cross. We never bear a cross until we have suffered for others; and for their wrong doing. We never make our own cross, not if it is God’s. The cross is no invention of ours. It is made by the enemy. And the enemy God has planted; so it comes from God’s hand. The cross is always God’s Will. And only the innocent bear a cross. If we are guilty and suffer for it, let us not pretend that it is a cross; it is not; it is chastisement, well deserved. If we are innocent of that for which we suffer, let us then say, it is God’s dear cross; it is his will; I will bear it gladly and in dignity, knowing that it is the greatest honor God can bestow. God must choose us to bear a cross; we would never choose to bear it."
