Stephen Wright became a noteworthy figure in Baptist historiography with the publication of his very valuable History of the Shaftsbury Baptist Association in 1853. This influential north-eastern association encompassed churches in Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts, which produced many outstanding preachers of the gospel. It was in the bounds of these three states that Wright lived out his long, interesting life and ministry. ---Terry Wolever
